Specific Techniques

Respiratory Tricks:

With children with respiratory issues, decreased vital capacity and smaller bronchioles make some illnesses more severe than in adults.   This is why bronchiolitis is such a serious issue in infants, while RSV infections are benign in most of the adult population.  Regular manipulation works great -- but sometimes it's HARD to get the kids to hold still!  Two easy techniques that the kids love:

* By doing a modified pedal pump and bouncing superiorly on the soles of the feet, the intestines will do the work of redoming the abdominal diaphragm for you.

* Likewise, bouncing a baby on your knee will have the same effect.
